1
On a sunny day I sought solitude on a tiny spit of land

in Rockland Harbor I set up a rectangle atop triangles.
I turned and looked back to find . . .

2
. . . my subjects, forms, a cylinder and block to put upon
a rectangle while interpreting the colors of gray.

3
Afterwards, I observed David Dewey interpreting color,
the artist using the watercolor white of the paper
to interpret his color.

4
he laying on of a wash.

5
The building of color that speaks to him.

6
A simple scene simplified while maintaining
the complexities of it all.

7
The discussion of technique, and the tilting of the canvas,
spreading the wet color.

8
The end of the day discussing class work
among triangles and rectangles, where it all took shape,
