2017 Spring Exhibit

After being asked to serve as the juror for the Vermont Watercolor Society I looked forward to the task of choosing a limited number of paintings out of many entries submitted for my review. I viewed all of the paintings numerous times before permitting myself to make a final decision.

Artistic taste is such a personal thing and there are no absolute formulas. But as a juror I not only looked for technical expertise but also for paintings that went beyond technique and had that unique spark- something deeper than well done paint on paper.

I admire and applaud each artist who entered this exhibition and congratulate the painters who have been accepted. I hope all the artists who submitted work will continue to develop their art form and that their next painting will be their very best.
