New Stargazers
by Bruce McMillan
In nine-teen-seventy-four,
that's sure a lot of numbers,
and not very long ago,
Leslie bred a new flower
out in California,
an oriental lily,
quite colorful, and because
it faced skyward, to the stars,
actually our sun, and our
sun is a star, anyway,
Leslie named it Stargazer
even though flowers can't see.
Hmm, I wonder if Leslie
looks up...or at her flowers.
