Beautiful trail, Bruce.
So much light in your snow!

So clean and so well edited. I need to murder some of my "little darlings" to get to this place. Which author said that?

Love the trail in the snow!! I've gone back to catch up on some of your other posts for the challenge...nice!!! I also googled your town to see where it was in Maine. My sister is in Damariscotta and I go up a few times a year.

"Which author said that?"

Arthur Quiller-Couch spread it in his 1913-1914 Cambridge lectures, On the Art of Writing. In his 1914 lecture On Style, he said, while railing against extraneous ornament: "Whenever you feel an impulse to perpetrate a piece of exceptionally fine writing, obey it—whole-heartedly—and delete it before sending your manuscript to press. Murder your darlings." In other words, you have to get rid of your most precious and especially self-indulgent passages for the greater good of your literary work.

Over the years I've learned to be merciless with my writing, always asking, "Does it advance the story?" And doing so brings simplicity. This has influenced my art, balanced with my youngest grandboy's advice, "You can do anything; it's a painting."

Thanks Joan in Long Island

I see that you've been up my way and painted just down the road in Ogunquit. And you painted last October with fellow poster Celia Blanco in Rome, Italy. I missed her when I was up in Venice early last summer. Maybe we'll run into each other painting sometime in Maine.

Thanks Martine in Montreal

You should know all about snow, eh, my friend.

Thanks Sharon

Nice hands in your post today to seize on.
